割り箸・・・日本国内で年間250億膳、木造住宅で2万軒分の割り箸が使い捨てられています。
環境問題として、割り箸、洗い箸問題は多くのデータの中でどちらが環境にやさしいか議論が分かれています。
割り箸から見た環境問題 ←長文です
単純に経費として計算すれば現状では割り箸の方が安くなっています。
しかし日本製割り箸と聞いて使っていたが実は中国製（失礼）だった、とか笑えない話も聞きました。
それならば熱湯での沸騰消毒やアルカリ性洗を使った高温水の食器洗浄器に耐える
国産で製造元がはっきりし、安全基準をクリアーしたプラスチック箸の方がいいんじゃなかろうか？
スプーンやフォークは洗い使いで、なんで箸だけが使い捨てなんだ？ 等々
1年ほど女将と議論の末、南風では割り箸の使用を止めることにしました。
篠島の小さな宿が割り箸使用をやめても太平洋に一滴の効果かと思いますが
よい方向ならば一つずつ変えていこうと思っています。
心情的にどうしても割り箸の方が・・・と、思われるお客さまもおられると思います。
